From 17 to 19 March 2025, Strasbourg hosted the Rencontres européennes de la participation, a flagship event that brought together national and European actors committed to citizen participation. Held at the Palais de la Musique et des Congrès, the event served as a key moment for practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and civil society to exchange ideas, share experiences, and explore the future of participatory democracy.
On 19 March at 11:15, our partners Université catholique de Louvain and Missions Publiques led a workshop titled: “Adapting Without Reinventing: Challenges and Strategies for Scaling Democratic Innovations“. This interactive session, inspired by the ScaleDem project, explored the real-world challenges of scaling participatory practices. Through hands-on exercises and collaborative case mapping, participants worked together to identify practical strategies for expanding, embedding, and adapting democratic innovations—without constantly starting from scratch. The event continued online from 20 to 21 March 2025, enabling wider participation and ongoing exchange. To find out more about Rencontres, visit their webite at this link.
